Every year, for the last 26 years, America’s Health Rankings Annual Report is compiled by the United Health Foundation and the American Public Health Association, and provides statistics on the healthiest states in the USA. The nation's overall wellbeing is measured by each state's behavior, community and environment, policy, and clinical care. And the rankings for 2015 have just been released.
We’re going to cut to the chase on this one: Hawaii took home the prize. No real surprise since the state has claimed the healthiest state title the past three years as well. Here are some more interesting takeaways:
*North Carolina had the biggest improvement since last year (jumping from 37th to 31st).
*The nation as a whole wins since cigarette smoking, cardiovascular deaths, and violent crimes are all on the decline.
*One area that still needs improvement is weight loss: Obesity continues to rise.
