Fast-forward to March 2016 and Fitbit’s new collaboration with Amazon Echo. Fitbit users who own an Amazon Echo can now ask Alexa about their daily progress via an integration with the Alexa API, Tech Crunch reports.
For those who aren’t familiar, Alexa is a hands-free speaker that recognizes and responds to a wide range of voice-enabled requests. Users can now say: “Alexa, ask Fitbit how I’m doing today,” and she’ll communicate your results instantly.

In short, Alexa will now be able to tell you how well you slept the night before, how many steps you’ve taken, how many flights of stairs you’ve climbed—and basically everything else that a Fitbit wearable would provide.
According to a press release from NASDAQ, “Working with Amazon and Alexa to create this new skill provides a completely new and fun way for Fitbit users to stay on top of their health and fitness goals," said Tim Roberts, Executive Vice President, Interactive at Fitbit. "As we look at how this integration could evolve in the future, there is an endless world of possibilities from fitness coaching and nutrition tips, to guidance before bedtime to help you get a more restful night's sleep."
With this launch, Amazon is adding to the growing list of brands that are part of the "Works with Fitbit" program, which lets developers, brands, and users seamlessly connect the Fitbit platform to popular health and wellness apps, services, and hardware products.
