Smart Fasting
It might do more than keep fat off, according to a report.

An Argument to Skip Breakfast: You've probably already heard, for ever and ever, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But several new nutritional studies have suggested that several varieties of intermittent fasting may help not only lose weight but also improve your body's immune system and lower the risk of diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. One regimen, called "time-restricted feeding," in which you eat all the calories you would normally consume, except during a 6–8 hour window during the day, usually the afternoon. [New York Times]

Sharapova Steps Away: Maria Sharapova tested positive for meldonium, a drug added to the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of banned substances, 28-year-old Russian tennis star announced Monday. She said she'd been taking the drug for 10 years to treat a variety of conditions, and that she hadn't realized the drug had been added to the banned list. Nike and Tag Heuer, two of her major sponsors, said they were suspending their relationships with her. “I made a huge mistake,” she said during a news conference in Los Angeles. “I don’t want to end my career this way and I really hope that I will be given another chance to play this game.” [The Wall Street Journal]

Melod-What Now?: Meldonium, also known as mildronate, helps athletes improve their capacity to exercise, but it's also used to treat to ischaemia, a lack of blood flow to parts of the body. Interestingly, it's made only in Latvia, and is not permitted for use in the U.S. or Western Europe. [The Guardian]

When You Just Know: Andrew Bogut didn't even need to watch Steph Curry take the three-pointer—he started celebrating as soon as Curry got his hands on the ball. (He swished the three-pointer, for the record.)

Respect for the Notorious: Jon "Bones" Jones, who's had some ups and downs in his own MMA career, gave a shout out to Conor McGregor on Instagram Monday after McGregor's welterweight loss to Nate Diaz.  "[McGregor] took a gamble fighting anyone, anywhere—a gamble he lost, but in a way he won, 'cause he really got to show some great character so a shout out to you." Jones said in his Instagram post. (Maybe he was feeling more charitable than on Sunday, when Jones and Demetrious Johnson ribbed McGregor for saying he was the "No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9" fighter in the world before McGregor's UFC 196 loss to Nate Diaz.) The Ultimate Alien-Bro Mashup: In the latest example of Hollywood's unyielding dedication to money-making reboots and franchises, Sony is set to roll out a new movie combining the Jump Street franchise with Men in Black, Variety reported Tuesday. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are set to reprise their Jump Street roles, but MIB will need to find fresh faces for its franchise, since Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith will not return. [Variety]

The Force Is Still Strong at This Awards Ceremony: Star Wars: The Force Awakens may not have earned many nods among (in)famously stuffy Oscar voters, but Daisy Ridley and co. cleaned up at the MTV Movie Awards nominations, leading the way with 11.
