Title Defense on Hold: Rafael dos Anjos has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Conor McGregor at UFC 196 after suffering a foot injury on Friday, ESPN and MMA Fighting reported Tuesday morning. The news comes as a surprise, as dos Anjos had recently granted interviews to Brazilian news outlets about challenging McGregor. (The UFC page for the matchup still lists dos Anjos as McGregor's opponent.) The fight was set to be a high-wire matchup, as McGregor—the current featherweight title holder—was set to bulk up to challenge dos Anjos for his lightweight belt. If he had defeated dos Anjos, McGregor would have become UFC's first fighter to hold titles in two weight classes; instead, UFC will have to scramble to replace dos Anjos for the March 5 event, which also features Holly Holm's title defense against Meisha Tate.
