We'll admit it: Marvel and Disney have put together a pretty damn clever Deadpool ad campaign. Ryan Reynolds went all-in: He punked a bunch of kids on Halloween and prefaced the holidays with "12 Days of Deadpool," then starred in an irreverent awareness campaign for a UK-based testicular cancer charity. (The hashtag: #touchyourselftonight)
Now, as the movie debuts on Valentine's Day weekend—yeah, it's a whole weekend now, sorry—they're pulling out all the stops by getting a glowing review from America's reigning grandmother: Betty White.
"Once in a generation, a movie comes along that your whole family will love," says White, who looks pretty good for 94, "if your family is a f--ked up group of $%&-kissing inbreds." (It's hard to make out the second curse word there, to be honest.)
"Plus, Ryan Reynolds looks so f--king handsome in his red leather suit. I give it four Golden Girls."
As for the more objective reviewers? Maybe they didn't give it "four Golden Girls," but Deadpool did earn 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, enough to net a Certified Fresh rating (and easily enough to best Zoolander 2, which got a paltry 20%).
