So What the Hell Is Going on With Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne's Wife?

Webb v. Rousey
Travis Browne's wife got worked up over a ring Ronda wore.

Say what you will about her stage presence or her comedic timing, the biggest criticism of Ronda Rousey's appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend came from her boyfriend Travis Browne's estranged (but reportedly still married) wife, and it's about what looks like a promise ring.

Wait. What?

Yeah, we're confused too. So let's try to break down this ridiculous logjam of accusations.

In one of her promotional videos for her Saturday Night Live hosting gig, Rousey appears to be wearing a ring on her left ring finger. Rousey's representatives denied that the ring meant anything or that Rousey and Browne were engaged, according to Entertainment Tonight, but some viewers interpreted it as an engagement ring or a promise ring.

One of those viewers: Jenna Renee Webb, who is "pretty sure" she's still married to Browne. Browne, a heavyweight MMA fighter who can certainly hold his own in the octagon—just ask Matt Mitrione—has been dating Rousey since the early summer of 2015, according to a far-reaching profile of her published in ESPN the Magazine after her crushing loss to Holly Holm.

After the SNL promo dropped, Webb fired off an acidic Instagram post (since deleted, although several sites screen-grabbed the image) featuring the image of Rousey wearing the ring.

"Pet Peeve: When people think they can do stupid shit and not get called out on it," Webb wrote in the Instagram post. "When he hits you across your pretty face don't worry, I'll be right here to say #IToldYouSo."

Webb's post references her allegations against Browne, which she made public in July via a series of social media posts, accusing Browne of domestic violence against her. After Webb's allegations, UFC suspended Browne and hired an investigative team, which "comfortably determined there was inconclusive evidence to support claims of alleged domestic violence," according to the ESPN profile. Browne has denied all wrongdoing, although he did admit "we yelled at each other."

The Webb-Rousey feud has been stewing for a while: Webb lashed out at Rousey over social media in the summer of 2015, saying "She should be ashamed of herself.... It's only a matter of time that she sees his true colors." But Rousey stuck by Webb after the allegations. "Why can't [people] have some confidence or trust in me that I would make a good decision and be with a good man regardless of how it looks?" she said during her training before the Holm fight.

""It's hard, it's really hard. I'm very anti-domestic violence," she said in the ESPN profile. "But I know that he didn't do anything."

Since the latest round of allegations, Rousey's response has been succinct: a quote from Rocky Balboa. No mention of Webb, Browne, or rings.
