The Laker great is saying farewell to the game after the season.

Morning, dudes. Here's the latest in cool stuff

"His Laker Dream": Kobe Bryant is saying farewell to basketball after this season, he announced in a poem, called "Dear Basketball," on The Players Tribune. "I've known for a while," Bryant told the assembled media after the Lakers' 107-103 loss to the Indiana Pacers. "A decision like this, you can't make that decision based on outside circumstances. It has to be an internal decision, and finally I've decided to accept that I can't actually do this anymore, and I'm OK with that." [ESPN]

Ballon d'Or: In a surprise to absolutely no one, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar make up FIFA's shortlist for the annual Ballon d'Or award on the men's side, while Carli Lloyd, Aya Miyama, and Célia Šašić are the female nominees. [The Independent]

Secrets of Living Longer: Dan Buettner, who created the concept of "Blue Zones"—places where people routinely live into their 90s and even 100s—detailed his research and what people can do, eat, and drink (yay red wine) to enjoy the same longevity. [USA Today]

Change of Scene: For years, the annual Pirelli calendar, with its pages of scantily-clad, soft-core babes, was a modern and exclusive take on classic pinups. But the Italian tire brand took a different approach for its 2016 edition, featuring arty black-and-white Annie Leibovitz shots of cultural icons like Serena Williams, 65-year-old author Fran Lebowitz, and rock music icon Patti Smith. Gronk Smashed: Rob Gronkowski went crashing to the turf during the Patriots' game against the Broncos Sunday night, spurring fans to #prayforGronk. (Apparently it worked, because his knee injury isn't that serious.) [Sporting News]

There's No "I" in "Suh": But that isn't stopping titanic Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndomukong Suh from claiming "I run this defense," and basically calling out the entire rest of the defense for not being good enough. [CBS Sports]

Air Time: In Amazon's latest bid to own the connection between your wallet and all the stuff you could possibly want, the retail giant has announced prototypes for Amazon Prime Air, a "future delivery system" of drones that can deliver packages of up to 5 lbs in 30 minutes or less, according to a press release. Look: They even got former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson to talk it up.
