NYC Marathon
While you recover from Halloween, watch 50,000 people run 26.2.

When you wake up Sunday morning, 50,000+ people will be lacing up to run a marathon in New York City. Yep, the 26.2-mile tour of the city kicks off at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday when runners will cross the starting line in Staten Island and begin their journey across the Verrazano Bridge and in to Brooklyn. They'll then run through Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and then back to Manhattan to cross the finish line in Central Park.

25 Reasons Running is Better than the Gym >>>

As the world’s largest and most popular marathon, it’s no surprise that it draws runners from roughly 130 countries around the world. And to celebrate this international melting pot of a running community, Airbnb—the Official Community Hospitality Partner of the TCS New York Marathon—sent eight of their hosts from eight different countries around the world to run. “The Airbnb community and the running community are similar in that they are both very global and passionate,” an Airbnb spokesperson told us, “Since the New York Marathon is the largest marathon in the world with many traveling in to race from all over, we wanted to give some of our hosts the opportunity to travel to NYC; a few for the first time, and for most, run a marathon for the first time.” While in NYC, they’ll (naturally) stay with Airbnb hosts who will share tips on the best pre-race meal spots, plus how to experience the city like a real New Yorker.

From 17-time marathoner Fabrizio Tenaglia travelling from Rome to Gabriel Amaro who is in town from Chile to Mac Ichiro of Japan, you can get to know more about each of the runners here.

But, Airbnb is doing more than simply creating an unforgettable marathon experience for these eight runners—you can get involved too (if you’re in the NYC area, that is.) They’re hosting a series of volunteer opportunities and events leading up to the big day, including a meet-up tonight at the Flagship Brewery in Staten Island and local bites and drinks in Brooklyn on Saturday

And if you’re not in New York, what better way to nurse that Halloween party hangover (whether it's alcohol or sugar-related), than watching other people work out on national television from the comfort of your bed? Obviously, you'll get inspired to hit the gym yourself with this hangover workout. Tune in to all the excitement on ESPN2 Sunday at 9:00 a.m. or catch it via WatchESPN.
