World Wrestling Entertainment fans have long enjoyed the twists and turns of fate that await wrestling's biggest stars in the ring. Now, fans can take a look at all the hard work that goes on outside it—and the first episode comes free.
WWE will lift the curtain on its demanding training routine in the new series Breaking Ground, premiering on WWE's Facebook page and YouTube channel at noon ET on Sunday, October 25. The rest of the 10-episode series will air Mondays on the WWE Network immediately after Monday Night Raw.
Just as Hard Knocks did with the NFL, Breaking Ground offers WWE fans an unprecedented look inside the WWE Performance Center, the legendary forge of wrestling superstars who have battled for supremacy on (and off) the canvas. Narrated by William Shatner—yes, that William Shatner—Breaking Ground will shine a spotlight on the elite athletic talent and demanding training routines of the biggest stars in wrestling.
Shatner's probably better known for helming the starship Enterprise than for narrating WWE specials, but the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor is also a longtime WWE fan. (He's also a longtime voice actor, and he's set to receive the Voice Arts Icon Award from The Society of Voice Arts and Sciences this November.)
“Ever since I tossed the legendary Jerry 'The King' Lawler out of the ring, I’ve been enamored with WWE," Shatner said in a press release. “My love affair continues with the new show, Breaking Ground.”
After the first episode, fans can sign up for the WWE Network online—much like Netflix or HBO. Produced by 3 Ball Entertainment and WWE, Breaking Ground joins a formidable roster of WWE Network shows like Legends’ House and The Monday Night War.
