Ronda Rousey is returning to the silver screen—and this time, she's stepping into the starring role.
The undefeated MMA champion and Olympic judo medalist is set to star in the upcoming reboot of "Road House," playing a badass bouncer who defends a Missouri town from a corrupt businessman, Variety reports.
The twist? Rousey will inherit the role from Patrick Swayze, who rose to movie stardom with the 1989 cult classic. And if MGM maintains the jaunty, rakish theme of the original—this is Patrick Swayze we're talking about—it'll a big opportunity for Rousey to showcase her innate charm alongside her innate punching ability.
It's been a busy few weeks for Rousey. She accepted a Marine's invitation to be his date at the Marine Corps Ball ("he's got to be a gentleman," she said). Just days later, she appeared as the new "Carl's Jr." girl, taking a monster bite out of the restaurant's new Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast Sandwich. And on August 3, she reportedly signed on to star in a movie based on her bestselling autobiography, My Fight/Your Fight.
