Tuning into spring training today? You may see one unlikely-yet-familiar face. Will Ferrell will take the field for ten different baseball teams, suiting up for positions including, well, all of them. Why? The comedian teamed up with Funny or Die, in partnership with Major League Baseball to create an HBO special that will raise money for charity.
According to MLB.com, Commissioner Rob Manfred is all about the funny guy hitting the fields and giving back: “Will is a big fan of our game, and many of us in baseball—among our clubs, players and our millions of fans—are big fans of his. Major League Baseball is happy to take part in what will surely be a fun and memorable day for a great cause,” he said.
Ferrell will be hitting the fields at five games, and playing for both teams on the field, playing for ten different teams in total in one day. According to Cut4, Ferrell’s gear will all be auctioned off after the event, and that money will also be donated.
Clearly, the comedian is taking his short professional baseball career very seriously:
